Who Am I?
My name is Kelsey Yang. My passion for photography began when I was in elementary school. Did I know that I wanted to be a photographer when I grew up? Nope. I had other plans in mind like being a veterinarian or become a professional video gamer or just be a animal lover. When I graduated high school, I knew that I wanted to be a professional photographer so when I was looking at colleges to find photography programs, I found one. I began my journey as a photographer at the University of Southern Indiana in Fall 2012.
Throughout my college experience, I slowly worked on my photography skills. From starting at the beginning: working with film and the dark room and making my way up the chain to digital and Photoshop. I have worked with different types of subjects from still life's to portraits in a studio to landscape from car shows to cosplay.
Then Life through me a curveball. After taking a small break from college, I joined the Marine Corps. Since I was a kid, I dreamed of being in the military especially the Marines and my day came true when I was entered in the Delayed Entry Program (DEP). For the next 3 months, I prepared myself both mentally and physically for my shipdate to bootcamp on April 4, 2016. From there, I endured 3 grueling months before I earned the title of a United States Marine on July 1, 2016. I finally made my dream come true. Due to events that carried over from boot camp to the next part of training affected me and I was discharged about 6 months of being in the Corps. The time I was in, I'm thankful for the experience I experienced and the people I have met on the journey.
